Up until this year, I had signed up for financial aid using my mother’s income which is very low. I’ve gotten a full ride every year and had extra money left over. This year I was able to apply as an independent student, and barely got enough financial aid to cover my tuition. What gives? I called financial aid and they said that was correct. How is this possible when there was more money made between my mom and I in previous years than what I made alone last year? It doesn’t make any sense to me. Now I have to take out hella student loans.
I have some issues with my credit, but I don’t have any bankruptcies or repossessions. What are the chances I could still get student loans?
A little more on my credit history, I have a lot of small to medium payments I owe. The worst I have is a 00 credit card debt. I know none of this is good, but I"m living check to check and can’t get anything paid back. I really don’t see things getting better in the future until I improve my education, and getting a better paying job.
I have student loans which recently defaulted due to my lack of employment for, well forever, with the exception of a few months of temp employment. I cannot afford even the minimum payment to get the loan back in good standing. I need to go back to school and believe that I would qualify for a federal pell grant. Will I still be eligible for one now that my student loans are in default?

i went to ivy tech a few years ago for 2 years then lost my financial aid because i didn’t pass all my classes. i ran into someone i used to know and they said even though i owe money for that, i can still go to the other college in town (ISU) and get financial aid and student loans for that school. is that possible or were they wrong? I’d really like to go back to college, but can’t do it without financial aid and some student loans.
Because of my unsatisfactory performance over the past few semesters (withdrawing to keep my 3.60 GPA) the school has denied my financial aid. If i transfer to another school, can I get it back? I don’t owe the school any money, and I have a mountain of student loans that are in good standing.
I am 28, a single mother of 2 and I am looking to finally start attending college this year. I know that I qualify for pell grants and such to pay for tuition but does anyone know if you can recieve student loans on top of that to help with living exspenses while attending classes. I have a job I just cant work full time anymore and attend classes and still be the kind of mother my kids deserve to have. I can still work part time I just need help paying the bills while I’m in school. Please if anyone has any info on this let me know.
Im on academic suspension from my current college and therefore lost my financial aid AND my student loans until I complete 2 classes out of pocket. My credit is not bad but not great and I don’t have a steady job. If I enroll in another college, online or local, is it possible to receive aid for those courses? Student Loan or Financial Aid?? I’m a current college student. I’m not eligible for financial aid nor the Student loans nor the Stafford loan this semester because I withdrawn from too many classes. I have already started this quarter and need 2,335 now. Are there any student loans, or any other way I can borrow this money now with low interest?
