I am attending CSU-Fresno at a freshman and received my financial aid for 0. How much did you guys get for financial aid? I was expecting more. Oh well. Free money is free money. By the way, I work part time 20 hrs a week, am going to live with my parents, they make about 20-25k~ a year, didn’t apply for FAFSA early, and I am the only one in the family attending college at the moment.
I’m in college now, and it seems like a doghouse out there. See I go to a community college, and I have been in college for a while since I have been going part time. I am seeing a change in college education. I used to believe that if government gave grants ($you don’t have to pay back) to people who could not afford college then more people would be educated and have more knowledgeable. I feel that i’m wrong now. See when I went to college they were playing loud music and I could not understand the words cause it was in Spanish. People were all over the place yelling and carrying on and dancing to this ethnic music. I thought college was supposed to be for learning and studying, not all this crap. I also think that college may be easier now because it has to be to pass these people and to get more money from the government. Am I right about this? Is our federal government ruining college education? If the government stays out of college education, would it benefit hard working people?
The more college graduates we have, the harder it is to find a job.
IM PAYING FOR THAT MUSIC IN MY STUDENT ACTIVITY FEE!!!!
I am planning to go to school next year but I’m afraid I will not be able to afford it.
The schoold does except finacial aid but I make too much money to qualify. The shcool costs ,000 upfront to attend! I don’t have that kind of money!
So it looks as though I will have to sell my car( get a cheaper one), quit my job and get a part time one just to have enough time and money ( with financial aid) to do to school!
What about student loans? how does that work? Do you have to pay while your are in school? Do you have to have good credit to get one?
Any suggestions?
I only have financial aid left for the upcoming winter quarter and was planning on going full time in the winter. I need to take a class in the spring as well and was wondering if I could be able to get the financial aid split to cover part time for winter quarter and part time for spring instead of just full time for Winter. Any feedback from someone with experience in this would be appreciated. Thank you.

don’t you just love it when people assume your rich??
If a 20 yr. old college student is already receiving financial aid for college tuition, but is now going to be living on their own due to abusive home life, are they eligible for any additional aid for living expenses? They are full-time student, working part-time. Thanks!
I am a 6th year undergraduate student just trying to take two classes during the summer so I can get my B.A. degree. The problem is, is that I’m only 23-classified as a dependend student which is SOOO far from the truth. I have exhausted my total loan amount for the year during Fall semester. My parents won’t co-sign loans for me or sign up for the Parent Plus loan. I have tried going to private lenders but have been declined based on my credit report and/or work history. I’ve only been employed at my current job for 3 months making .25 an hour as a part-time worker. Last job was 2 years.
I don’t know what else to do…All i want is to get my degree so I can start making REAL money and help out my family!
I go to college full time, but want to drop a few classes because my schedule is too hectic. If I did, I would then be considered a part time student….but I’m on financial aid and I know it would affect that. So what exactly would happen?
I’m already on financial aid, but I got it as a full time student. So they paid for all my classes and what not. I just wanted to know what would they do if I did drop some classes, would they make me pay them back immediatly? For the classes I dropped? Does it affect my grace period? My counselors in my college are pretty clueless, student’s always complain about that. Trying to talk to someone from my lender is even harder. Thanks though.
Actually I’m senior, and the only way I could drop classes but still remain a full time student, was if I was taking over 12 hours…which people rarely do because that’s tough.
