When I file my FAFSA, do the people check how much money I have in the bank account before approving my Federal grants/loans? What about the college financial aid office? Do they check before deciding how much money to give you?
My parents say that I shouldn’t have more than 0 in my bank account at any one point. But I want to open a savings account because I really need to control my splurging.
Does anyone know the answer to this? Thanks!!!

I heard that if you’re under 25 but married you don’t need to have your parents involved in getting financial aid in school. Does the same thing apply to Civil Unions? I live in California. Thank you any information is helpful.

If my parents are both retired and our gross income is about 70,000 a year how much financial aid help will USC give. I am planning on attending next fall and want to know if we are able to pay for it.

I have been wanting to move out and live on my own during my college years. However I originally believed it would be a bad idea financially with how high tuition costs are so I decided to stay with my parents.
But one of my friends the other day suggested that I should move out because I would qualify for grant money if I live alone. Is this true or is it not a guarantee?

I remember someone saying I needed to wait til i got my results back from FAFSA (which i’m finishing up today) Is that correct? Also, HOW do you apply for loans and grants? I’m so lost and my parents don’t know anything about it so I’m in this alone!

I am 19 and I have been living on my own for 2 years and I hate that I may not qualify for financial aid because I have to put my parents information. I just want to do everything on my own. And I don’t want my parents money or lack of to determine my financial Independence. I think I should be independent and not considered a dependent since I do not depend on my parents at all.

I am under 25 years old and no longer live with my parents. I recieve no support from them what so ever, but am still considered a dependant because of my age. I live off of my low income job, and really need to increase my financial aid to pay for school. What can I do, to avoid claiming my parents income, and increase my aid?

My fiance and I are currently in college. We will be married before graduating, and plan to begin law school immediately after finishing our undergraduate degrees. By being married and being financially independent from our parents, and having little to no income, what percentage of financial aid can we expect to receive?
