Up until this year, I had signed up for financial aid using my mother’s income which is very low. I’ve gotten a full ride every year and had extra money left over. This year I was able to apply as an independent student, and barely got enough financial aid to cover my tuition. What gives? I called financial aid and they said that was correct. How is this possible when there was more money made between my mom and I in previous years than what I made alone last year? It doesn’t make any sense to me. Now I have to take out hella student loans.

Apparently the IRS attached a label to the tax form for you to return it to them, and you have to peel it off of the form. Well my mom pretty much ripped a hole in the form when she was peeling the label off, so some of the text on the back is unreadable. Is this common, and will the financial aid people at my school still accept it?
Yeah, they asked me to verify my mom’s income, so that’s why I have to give them the tax form.

I might take online high school. The only problem is I need scholarships for college. My mom went to my school administration building and talked to them about online school and they said it would be hard to get scholarships. If I score well on ACT and SAT, would I be able to get scholarships?

I’m in my first year of college, but I’m already a sophomore in terms of credits. Last year I received the maximum amount of financial aid from the FAFSA because my mom has 3 kids and a low income. I’m engaged and want to get married soon, but I’m worried I won’t get the same financial aid benefits. An important aspect is that neither I nor my fiance work and earn any income. Let me know please. Thank you.

My girlfriend goes to school and rceives financial aid, and I was wondering if I claimed her on my taxes would she still be eligable for financial aid. Would my income effect her financial aid. I make around 20k a year and we have a baby and live on our own.
I know for a fact I can claim her because my mom has been a tax professional for 15 years, and I can claim anyone who lives at my residence and I provide for them. However my mom knows nothing about financial aid.

I am a white male being supported by my mom who is below the poverty line I think (,000 a year) and my GPA is 3.5 and my SAT score is 1900, what grants could I possibly apply for? If there is a list somewhere of poverty grants that’d be awesome to see, or even a list of grants that I could apply for, I plan on applying for as many as possible. Thanks! :)
