I live in oklahoma city and i am about to go to the university of oklahoma in the fall. My family is real poor and i have been filling out a lot of scholarships. I dont have OHLAP (which pays for tuition). I have been thinking of applying for loans and financial aid programs that are sponsored by the government. How many financial aid programs can i apply for?

My grandmother’s house is more than 50 years old and it is a small old wood house that really needs remodeling. The city wont let her rebuild on the property but she can remodel. Due to a car accident she is in a wheel chair and the house is not handicapped accessible at all. Alot of the wood is rotten and there are cracks and holes. Bascially the whole house needs to be fixed. She doesnt have the money for renovations or to pay high loans. I want to find housing grants for her or either an inexpensive contractor that maybe does payment plans or some sort.
Thanks

I’m a 21 year old from Indiana who’s attending school at the University of Michigan. Since I’m out of state my tuition bill is HUGE, and my parents refuse to help me pay. They wouldn’t help if I had stayed in state, either. Anyway, because I’m only 21, I have to show my parents’ income on my FAFSA/to my school, and it’s causing me to get little aid. I’ve had to take out huge loans to help cover the expenses, but I’m becoming scared of taking out any more loans as I don’t know if I’ll be able to pay them off after graduating. Could anyone offer me any suggestions? Oh, and I’ve been working to help pay for school/apartment/food, etc. I haven’t JUST been taking out huge loans. Oh, and my dad refuses to co-sign a loan in case he needs to take one out, and my mom is under his control and won’t co-sign, either.

Thanks!

My dad took out an equity loan for 0,000 two years ago and still has only been paying the monthly interest. Last year the interest alone amounted to ,000 annually. My dad makes close to 0,000 a year but has lost a lot of money in stocks, and his savings are nearly empty. I was wondering if I could receive financial aid because of the outstanding loans or will I be denied financial aid right away because of his high income.

When applying for financial aid is it really beneficial to the student to be claim as a dependent or to claim themselves? Basically, would this be the difference being denied and being accepted for scholarships or loans?
Can anyone lead me to an article or something that says you have to be over 24 to claim not dependent? My sister already did her taxes (she’s my twin, 23) and she says since she wasn’t enrolled in school last year that Dad can’t claim her and she’s already filed her return and gotten her rebate check.

I am a first year college student at Dartmouth College and have taken out a hefty amount of loans for my first year tuition. I know with the recent Wa Mu bankruptcy, that many other banks are in danger of following in Wa Mu’s footsteps. If by chance Citibank were to collapse what would become of my loans. And with our recent recession, how will I be affected in my ability to attain loans and secure a job post graduation?

My son wants to get a Bachelor of Science in Computer Engineering at Seattle’s DIGIEPEN. The four year degree is going to cost him ,520.00 First question is where to get the money for that without getting him loans. Is there anything out there as far as extra help for adhd students?
Second question is doe anyone know anything about this Institure of Technology? Need some good stats since the school itself is not very old.
Third question: Does Microsoft hire fresh out of highschool, and pay for college in return to get new hires on?

I’m wanting to know if I’d do better getting loans from my college now and paying them back after I get the degree or just gradually take the cources as I can pay for them. Defently will apply for a pale grant though. Just wanting your input or experience on it. At the moment I’m just taking cources as I can afford them at my local community college.
