I just finished undergraduate school with no loans. I am very glad. However, my degree is such that I can’t do much with it unless I get a Masters. So, I’m in graduate school right now. I have to take out loans, and I’m expecting to take out a considerable amount to pay for two years of grad school. Now, even when I get my Master’s degree, I will likely get a job that only pays ,000/year, if that. I’m planning on going into teaching, and at a Catholic school.
So, my question is: should I be overly concerned about paying back my loans? Has anyone else here taken out college loans and was able or are able to pay them back, even though one wasn’t in a big-bucks paying profession?
I really appreciate the advice!
Currently I live at home and am only taking 8 units. Next semester I will be enrolled full time and living on my own (off campus). What financial aid options do I have to help pay for things. I work…just not enough, I haven’t been able to find a job. I make about 6,500 per year. I’m in the process of submitting my fafsa. Where can I find helpful info on grants and aid. The Gov’t website doesn’t really seem to apply to individuals.
I heard that Financial Aid was stopped this year and won’t be given out this semester, and probably not ever again. I’m jobless and would lose my apartment without financial aid since I can’t find a job fast enough! They’ve already held 2 checks from me this semester I’ve lost 5 grand already and if they take it away permanently like I heard a lot of people will have to drop out of school, including me. Someone tell me what’s going on please! I’m panicking!
I was convicted (marijuana) in 2006 and released in early 2008. I’ve never gotten financial aid or any grants and now could really use them to keep my life on track and make a brighter future possible. I live in MN and have maintained a job since my release.
I have a Bachelor of Science Degree in Computer Information Systems. It is really hard to find a job in this field in this particular area and I don’t have the funds to relocate right now. I was thinking about going back to college to get a degree in nursing or education. I am unemployed right now and would definitely like to start college in the summer. If anyone have any solution to my problem please help me.
I earned a Bachelor’s of Elective Stusdies last summer, but am considering returning to college to persue a second degree. I can not seem to find any good information on financial aid except student loans. I am not making enough money at my present job to pay my bills, let alone more student loans. I have found my education thus far does not really apply to any field. I took primarily classes in Special Education and without a teaching license they are not helping me to find anything in my area.
My parents took my pell grant check to pay the mortgage, but they haven’t yet and they refuse to give it to me to pay for school. With my job I can now afford to pay for school, but I can’t trust my parents anymore so i’ve decided to move out but need the extra money, if i withdraw it from the account that i know it is in can they get me in any kind of trouble?
I just started school last week and have one grant which covers my books and tuition and pays out the remainder in the form of a check once a semester. This is great and all but i need something perhaps weekly that would help pay for gas as i am a full time student at a local tech college im focusing on school right now and so i don’t have a job. If you have any suggestions leave it here or my email is bartgillam (at) gmail . com (obviously delete the spaces)
My husband just got laid off from his job, and we were already living from paycheck to paycheck and not making it. Now my husband has been accepted into the local radiology tech program here and we have questions about student loans and grants.
Is there some sort of financial assistance you can get that covers just basic living expenses as well as tuition, book costs, etc.? Does anybody know of any sites besides FAFSA that offers grants? Any information anyone might have would be of great help! Thanks guys
Wouldn’t that just help a not so well off person get a degree and a better job so they wouldn’t have to use government programs in the future, and perhaps break their cycle of poverty?
