We are first time homebuyers in California (east bay area) and we just had our offer accepted on a "light fixer"…I am wondering if there are programs that offer financial assistance (grants or otherwise) to help with rehabbing a property.
JUST FOR CLARIFICATION! The question is regarding loans or grants to fix up a property that is damaged…NOT "First time home buyers programs". Also, my intention is not to "flip it" for a profit…just to make it liveable. Thanks!

The government gives out free money for first time home owners and for personal use.
