When I file my FAFSA, do the people check how much money I have in the bank account before approving my Federal grants/loans? What about the college financial aid office? Do they check before deciding how much money to give you?
My parents say that I shouldn’t have more than 0 in my bank account at any one point. But I want to open a savings account because I really need to control my splurging.
Does anyone know the answer to this? Thanks!!!

I am currently doing an internship at the financial aid office at my campus and there will be an opening in the Fall for which they would like me to apply. They are also employing me part-time over the summer. I can’t say that I am very fond of this job from what I have learned thus far, but with the current state of the economy I can’t be too picky. So, would this be a good job to start out with? What is the typical salary? Thanks!

The semester started on january 26th. So will I get it on March 27th? What is the lastest I will recieve my refund check if it doesn’t come exactly on March 27th? Since they said approximately will I get it on March 27th for certain?

My financial aid office said that I have incomplete requirements and that Selective Service is missing my registration, which is required in order to receive my financial aid award. I have already went through this with Selective Service, and they sent me a letter stating that I am exempt from registering with them, because I’m a female to male transsexual. I was born a GIRL, but am now male..which is why I did not register and don’t have to. I don’t have that stupid letter anymore (it got accidentally thrown away in moving to my apartment) But..if they sent me a letter, they should have that on file somewhere right? So…can anyone tell me what I need to do to NOT have to keep going through this every year when I file my FAFSA?

I noticed that I am eligible to receive the Xavier grant from Xavier University, but I never received one. I submitted by FAFSA online by the university’s priority deadline of February 15 and I have an EFC of 0. I plan on making an appeal to receive this grant and want to know which rank is the highest in its financial aid office; so I know whom is best to contact. The positions in this school are financial aid specialist, director, assistant director, and senior associate director.

I am so confused when I log into college board, I am told that many institutions have specific forms for the University. For example American University or Smith College. When I log into the University site I can only find directions to the FAFSA, college board, or maybe one form. I call the financial aid office and probably don’t ask the right questions. Help, please!!!!

Can a financial aid office deny a student financial aid if that student took about 8 years to complete IGETC at a 2 year college to transfer to a university? (The student dropped out of college due to being homeless for a while and then went back to college and for other reasons such as this) Are there requirements on how old a student can be to recieve financial aid ?
The student still needs to a complete a few more classes though in order to be able to tranfser.

I am working on a training session for frontline financial aid office personnel and want to hear what you think about customer service in financial aid. Is it good? Why? Is it bad? Why?
