My son has received grant money from his college the last two years. This year (2006) my personal income had an unusually large spike. Do colleges ever ask for past grant money be returned do to a large change in personal income?

I’ve just applied to a four year college. On the application, I had to list all colleges previously attended. Do I have to submit transcripts from those colleges as well? It didn’t say anything on the application.
I’m applying as a first-time freshman, but have 9 units from a junior college

How is financial aid for colleges awarded?
What is it based on?

If this helps:

deceased father, unemployed mother at the moment (gets widows/unemployment pension)

Is it based on actual money or like grades? I have no idea

Not only in regards to things like FAFSA but also any other aid that colleges might offer. I’m looking into going to top schools (Berkeley, UCLA, etc) but the cost is a major factor for me as I have absolutely no money.

Thanks =)

I’m looking for a most selective college. I know that community service plays a big part in college admissions. I was wondering how much of that I should have in order to have colleges think highly of me. Right now, I don’t really have time for community services because of a lot of challenging classes and some extra curiculars. But I’m thinking about getting a summer job or something and donate blood at the blood drive when I get the chance.

I’ve always wondered whether college admissions actually look at what caliber high school someone is applying from? Because, not all public high schools are the same, and some are way harder to do well in than others, and I was just wondering if colleges actually take that into account when people apply.
