My wife and I are currently living in apartments that verify income, but we are both currently full time students. Our lease is expiring in 3 months, and have not had any luck in the job search, but we get plenty from grant/financial aid money. We would like to stay in the same apartment, but we are unsure if we can use financial aid as income since we are unemployed.
My financial aid office said that I have incomplete requirements and that Selective Service is missing my registration, which is required in order to receive my financial aid award. I have already went through this with Selective Service, and they sent me a letter stating that I am exempt from registering with them, because I’m a female to male transsexual. I was born a GIRL, but am now male..which is why I did not register and don’t have to. I don’t have that stupid letter anymore (it got accidentally thrown away in moving to my apartment) But..if they sent me a letter, they should have that on file somewhere right? So…can anyone tell me what I need to do to NOT have to keep going through this every year when I file my FAFSA?
Once i send off my fasfa how long will it take for my financial aid check to come back? Could i buy myself a car(not new, used) with some of that money? Im moving out of my parents house sometime after graduation in may but i dont want to move until i have my own car. Im saving for a car and my apartment now but ill need a lil help thats y i want to use my financial aid check. When will it come back, will it be long?
Me and my best friend are going to be attending a community college in San Francisco this fall. She is getting a grant so we can afford an apartment and her school needs, but i need one also to help with rent, and my school needs.
What kind of different grants are there? What do I have to do to get them, is there a number I can call to get more info.
I read something about teacher’s grant, for those who want to be a teacher, and I do. But what does that grant give you?
I prefer to live in an apartment, but my guess is that grant money cannot be used to pay rent and utilities at apartments. I have plenty of scholarships to cover my tuition, so I am just concerned about housing next year. I live in Minnesota, currently attend a state university in MN (I dorm), and will be a sophomore at a state university in MN next year.
Hope I provided enough details! And yes, I do say Minneeesoootaaa.
We have a week to move out and dont know what apartment or type of housing that we can afford, we have 1 child and both are going to be attending college in the summer, stressing out because we have no clue what type of apartments that we can afford with us both getting financial aid.
I was wondering if I can have financial aid pay for an apartment not run by my university(Southern Illinois University). My school average cost is 17,000 to 18,000, so that’s what my financial tries to give me. If I pay for my tuition, will they give me whats left over for an apartment? If I get a scholarship can I still get financial aid?
I heard that Financial Aid was stopped this year and won’t be given out this semester, and probably not ever again. I’m jobless and would lose my apartment without financial aid since I can’t find a job fast enough! They’ve already held 2 checks from me this semester I’ve lost 5 grand already and if they take it away permanently like I heard a lot of people will have to drop out of school, including me. Someone tell me what’s going on please! I’m panicking!
My boyfriend is moving into my apartment this month and will be put on the lease as responsible for 1/2 the monthly rent. He is planning on starting college in June, at which point he won’t be able to pay the 0 a month. Is it possible for his school to work his rent into his school loans? If it matters, he is going to be attending Pittsburgh Institute of Mortuary Science.
