Is it too late to get financial aid for this coming spring semester?
Is there any way I could still get financial aid for the spring semester? (january 09) I’m not in school right now this semester, but I am going back this spring.

Yes, you still would fill out the application for 08-09 and you still would use your tax return for 2007. Just go ahead and fill out the fafsa application and send it to your school. Then after two weeks have passed (sometimes it takes that long for the application to reach your school) then you would need to go down to the fin aid office and see what documents (if any) that you would need to turn in to complete your file.
Then you must ask if they need to do something special for your spring award. Some universities have to set up a one semester budget for the students that only attend in the spring. Then after that all should be clear for you to start.
