I got a Pell Grant, but now I may get a full scholarship. What happens to the grant money?
I got ,300 from the Pell Grant for my first year of school. It is just community college, so this will probably cover tuition and books. I decided last minute to apply for the honors program, and if I get in, the school will give me a full scholarship. Now, what happens to the grant money? Will I still get it for books, housing (off campus), transportation costs, etc? I still am not sure how this financial aid thing works! =)

i think you can spend it if you decide to go shopping come get me
You can still get the pell grant to help offset the other costs of school as far as I know, but check with your financial advisor to be sure.
you need to call the financial aid office. you may still be entitled to it but you do have to report your scholarship for your FAFSA. They may reduce your grant. Either way don’t spend it until you find out. If you do they will make you pay it back and if you can’t afford to you may not be able to take any classes until you do.
if the pell grant was offered from your college they may just take it back if you are going to have a full tuition . but they won’t.
Once everything is paid for you will recieve a refund check. That will be any money left over after tuition, registration fees, anything charged to your account such as teacher items and any type of id, parking pass etc. once you receive the refund check i would not spend it. Trust me. You may think oh… free money. ! Don’t! Use it for books and then just put it away and dont think about it. Lots of students make the mistake of spending the money when they can reinvest into their education so they don’t have to take it out of the pocket.
goodluck
you are still in titled to the pell grant. it can be use to pay for other college expenses such as books, dorm fees, to buy a computer for school etc.
It depends on what the school determines your financial need to be. (They usually calculate living expenses as part of the picture when they determine what the cost of attendance is.)
If your total need is, say, $10,000, and the grant plus the scholarship comes to more than that, they’ll usually keep the difference (because they can’t "overaward" you with federal aid). Otherwise, they should give you the whole thing.
If you get the scholarship, you should talk to a financial aid counselor at the school to find out exactly what the implications are for your financial aid package.
