How do you know that all these people are there on grants?
I think you are leaping to conclusions.
What they do on their own time outside of the classroom is their business.
If you don't like the other students at your place of higher education, then perhaps you should transfer to another school.

A lot of people said the same thing and decided to go to VOTECH
trains you for a job. There isn't all that bull.
That is what they told me to do to avoid all that.
There are grownups in the class that want to learn and won't put up with foolishness.

You want to close schools off to anyone who doesn't fit into a certain society economic group. Education needs to be available to everyone no matter who they are. There are lots of people in colleges who don't belong there. They are not from any particular group. They are there because they don't know what else to do.

If society didn't tell everyone they had to be professionals, that it's OK to be a plumber or electrician, more people would take those routs. We wouldn't be having the huge problems we have getting skilled labor to fill all the jobs that are out there.

If the Govt. stayed out of college education, only the wealthy could go, and that would be a real shame.

You are completely wrong. You assume that just because students play loud spanish music that they can't be serious about school? Obviously you have never been to a University campus. I think you might benefit from expanding your horizons a bit. I also think you might benefit from taking some sociology courses. People are free to be who they want to be and be educated. Just because someone likes to have a good time doesn't mean they aren't a good student. College is a time for learning and studying, but it is also a time for self exploration and social involvement.

I really hope that you are not insinuating that hispanic people are not intelligent hardworking people. I also really hope that you are not implying that people with lower income are not intelligent hardworking people. IF you are, then you need more education than you might think.

Hey, I know there is a lot of confusion over college grants. If you check http://www.collegefunder.org you can see what one guy did to get over $40K in college grants.

Think about it and check out that site for sure.

I agree... but in my opinion its like this.
I attend college with NO financial aid, because my parents worked their assess off to get good jobs. Being their child, I should have the advanatage over a person of a lower SES to attend a good college. Upward mobility is bullshit and it levels the playing field but in an unfair way. Why should some poor minority get the exact same opportunity that I have as far as education, when his parents sold crack and my parents are white collar professionals.
