Universities have policies that hold federal grant money and they blame it on the finance department needs to certify the money, why? I feel these online universities hold the money to get more interest because the time from them receiving the funds to dispersing it to the student can be 3 weeks. If there is an outstanding balance that is different however the money is mine and no one pays it back but me so why can’t i receive the money directly to me and i can pay for the coarses myself.

It seems that many websites want to charge a lot of money for access to grant and scholarship databases. Is there a way to access academic grants and scholarship offers without risking a scam? I’m asking those of you who have purchased services or utilized search sources with success. I thank you very much.

I have 5 total federal loans from my college days. They vary in interest rates from around 2.8 to 6.8%. As pure chance would have it, my bigger loans happen to have the higher interest rates between 6.0 and 6.8%. I just went to some consolidation site and type in my numbers on their calculator form and it claimed I would save around a month if I consolidated. Is this a good idea or not?

I started college this year. I am an independent student ( I do not live with my parents). Our family is low income, and we get a much needed sizeable tax return every year. I’m wondering how my federal student aid will effect our tax return. Will it raise or lower it? Thanks!
I know that I am an independent student. I’m 25 years old, married, with 3 kids.

I applied and was accepted into Boston College Early Action. Unfortunately, I didn’t realize I also had to apply for financial aid early. I missed all the Early Action financial aid deadlines. However, there are still the Regular Decision dealines, which I can make. Can I apply for financial aid still even though I already got in?

My friends mom just let me get a book on how to write college essays from the store, and it’s got several sample essays in it… Can i use some of the really cool wrap up sentences and stuff? Would the people reading my application, notice that they sounded similar? Like… I realized It was not America that changed, but myself. Like i won’t copy them word for word, I’ll scramble them a little bit, or do you think it would sound too generic and they would catch on?

I’m getting frustrated with the amount of time it’s taking my 2 yr. college to process my financial aid. I submitted the paperwork on the 28th of September and I’m still waiting for them to finish it. They’ve got 4 people for the entire college. I understand that, but on Nov. 10th I would have paid for the entire term. I was wondering if there is anything else I can do or if this length of time is normal. All they’ll tell me is that they are in "step 2".
